Personal Info

John Frederick is an Associate in the Trademark Team at Januar Jahja and Partners (JJP). With over 10 years of experience in intellectual property (IP) law, John currently handles legal disputes (contentious) and non-legal issues (non-contentious) related to IP. In that regard, his primary practice focuses on IP litigation, as well as transactional and enforcement matters, such as infringement (civil and/or criminal), cancellation actions, online takedowns, and demand letters.

John started his career in IP law in 2013 as a patent paralegal at another well-known IP firm in Indonesia. After becoming a lawyer in 2016, he expanded his knowledge of IP law by working on many different tasks, including including trademark office action (objection, rebuttal, response and appeal), copyright prosecution work, IP litigation (cancellation action, IP infringement (both civil and criminal), IP licensing, online take down, and overseeing business permits such as SNI and BPOM. He has gained a lot of experience working with both Indonesian and international clients.

In addition to his legal career, Mr. Frederick enjoys teaching others about IP law and often speaks at events for Indonesian companies.

Mr. Frederick also cares deeply about protecting wildlife, especially orangutans and their habitat. He is involved in raising awareness about deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, and climate change. In his free time, John enjoys playing video games and watching the Harry Potter movies.
