The Indonesian Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) has officially transitioned to issuing electronic patent certificates under Circular Letter No. HKI-14.KI.05.02 Year 2026. Effective for any patent application granted on or after July 16, 2026, the Indonesian Patent Office will no longer issue physical hardcopies of patent certificates. Instead, granted patents and simple patents will be issued exclusively in digital format (e-certificates) through the Intellectual Property Administration System (SAKI) portal or via direct download links sent to applicants’ registered email accounts.

This administrative shift aims to modernize Indonesia’s IP management by providing a faster, more secure, and fully verifiable framework for right holders. The DGIP emphasizes that electronic patent certificates carry the same legal validity and effect as traditional physical certificates, and this update does not alter or impact the statutory rights conferred by a granted patent. Moving forward, patent owners and attorneys will receive e-certificates directly, eliminating the need for physical collection and/or mail delivery.
